bookmark_borderGoals for 2006

I just went back to read some of my posts from a year ago. Here were my goals:

2005 is the Year of the Edit for me. I am determined to rewrite, edit, and submit at least one book this year. I am aiming for June, hopefully sooner. Today I am looking at which one to do. Butch Girls has the best flow of all of them. Long Lea and Simple Sarah (now under a new title) have great potential as either a trilogy or as one mega book. I also have several short stories and non-fiction I am working on to submit to magazines. And of course I have several new ideas for new novels. 😀

2005 was the Year of the Edit. Ee-freakin’-gads. I didn’t submit the book but I did submit two articles that were published (Muscadine Lines) and submitted a short story for a competition.

I didn’t make my yearly word count goal. I was officially aiming for 500,000 for the year. I reached 459,209 which makes me 40,791 words short. So close but yet, no cigar. Close only counts in horseshoes, skunks and hand grenades. Oh, and nuclear bombs.

So what are my goals for this year? Good question!

I’m carrying over my goal of submitting a book. I think BG1 will be sent out this week. Shhh, don’t tell anyone! Wouldn’t want to jinx meself. It won’t be going out to an agent but straight to a publisher.

I hope to continue my relationship with Muscadine Lines and EDSToday. I am looking at another magazine, printed, to send articles to, perhaps even a short story.

I want to finish/edit the Sarah/Lea fantasy. I want to get another BG book written and perhaps edited. And I’d like to get started on the SciFi that is in perpetual research.

I am going to aim for the 500K again this year. Why the hell not, right?

That’s my writing goals. I don’t do personal goals. I don’t like setting my Self up for failure.

Pack of Angry Chihuahuas Attacks Officer

Dec 31, 5:35 PM (ET)

FREMONT, Calif. (AP) – A pack of angry Chihuahuas attacked a police officer who was escorting a teenager home after a traffic stop, authorities said.

The officer suffered minor injuries, including bites to his ankle, Detective Bill Veteran said.

The five Chihuahuas escaped the 17-year-old boy’s home and rushed the officer in the doorway Thursday, authorities said. The teenager had been detained after the traffic incident.

The officer was treated at a hospital and returned to work less than two hours later.

Lorna, as a mail carrier, meets many dogs on her route. Back when she was a substitute, she came home one day and said she had been bitten by a doberman. Of course, I panicked, asked if she was okay, what happened, etc. She said it had run by her once and on the return had nipped her leg. I said “Doberman’s don’t just nip. You sure you’re okay?” That’s when she told me it was a MINI Doberman. I about slapped the snot out of her.
