P***r

    p***r (n):

  1. Fire iron consisting of a metal rod with a handle; used to stir a fire
  2. Any of various card games in which players bet that they hold the highest-ranking hand

I think they are both the same. On Friday, I saw that my total comment spam was gross – 144. Then, over the holiday weekend, it shot up. The stats are always in the footer. I use Spam Karma and obviously it is working.

I don’t play p***r. I don’t like gambling. Life is rough enough and full of plenty of chances without taking them on purpose. I’d rather spend my money on a dog collar or a root canal than lay it in a pile hoping I can bluff better than everyone else.

About 3/4 of the spam comments are p***r related. The rest are loan offers. Ironic, don’t you think?

Oh, and WordWeb also defines spam:

  1. (n) Unwanted e-mail (usually of a commercial nature sent out in bulk)
  2. (v) Send unwanted or junk e-mail (spammed, spamming)
  3. (n) A canned meat made largely from pork

Again, kinda fitting.

(for those who don’t know, comment spam are idiots using the comment option of blogs, guest books, and the like to spread their alleged services)
