Trees

#211 – Visualize yourself as a tree with branches reaching to the sky and roots extending deep into the earth. As you inhale imagine you are drawing air and sunlight down through your branches into your trunk. As you exhale imagine the breath continuing down through your roots and into the earth. On the next inhalation, image bringing the energy of the earth up through your roots into your trunk. Exhale out through your branches. Continue breathing in alternate direction like this for five to ten minutes.

#667 – “Like a tree I stand, reaching for the light, finding strength from the darkness at my roots. My body is twisted by the storms of life, yet in my uniqueness I am beautiful.” Modern Affirmation.

#722 – “I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines.” Henry David Thoreau (1617-62)
