Lorna’s curiosity is overtaking her about these caterpillars. They’re on someone’s mailbox. Anyone know what they are? Most are around 2-3″ but some are at least 4″.

So it is some sort of butterfly caterpillar? Cool.
Only if you consider a tree devouring moth to be a butterfly.

They make great fish bait.
Lorna got some more photos of them yesterday. And when she first spoke to the house owner about them, the first thing he said was that they use them for fish bait.

The black leaves hanging off the stripped one is from the hail storms we’ve had. There are trees all around with those.
