Cold Front

The season’s first major cold front (actually, two of them) is hitting the area now and later Monday/early Tuesday. That means that I am in pain, grumpy, and cuddled up with a hot water bottle.

Something is going on with my shoulder and neck so I am cutting back on the time I spend typing as well as *gasp* mouse usage.

Unless things turn out better than I think, I’ll be AWOL from here for a day or two or three.

… A light wintry mix and low wind chills in the higher elevations of the North Carolina mountains today and tonight…

Scattered snow showers will develop late this afternoon and continue through tonight across the higher elevations of the North Carolina mountains… mainly along the Tennessee border. Up to an inch of snow accumulation is possible in parts of the northern mountains… mainly at ridgetops. A few slick spots will likely develop on roads that run through higher gaps. Even this morning patchy light freezing drizzle could result in isolated slick spots at higher elevations in the northern mountains.

In addition to some light snow accumulations… gusty northwest winds will drop wind chill values to between zero and 10 above at elevations above 4000 feet tonight.

  1. Is that 2100′ altitude before or after having a bedtime toddy? Sorry, I still can’t help myself…

Sorry you’re hurting from the colder weather. So am I. In my case it’s probably a matter of age and arthritis. Got a bum knee that needs to be replaced, and it hurts like hell when it gets cold. My mom (she’s had both replaced) tells me it still hurts when it gets cold. Guess the stainless steel and teflon doesn’t like cold weather…

Haven’t been around much lately. Haven’t been around much of anywhere lately. Just barely maintaining what I call writing a few times a week. Not sure what happens to the time, but it is disappearing too quickly…

Just finished watching a CNN special on some of the key elections coming up. They spent a LOT of time on the congressional seat that Heath Schuler is running for over there. I’m sure you already know, he was quarterback at UT before Peyton Manning and went on to play a couple of years in NFL. So far as I know he’s a solid citizen. You can be the better judge of that and what he’s up against there, but probably a better choice than his Repulsive, er Republican, opponent…

Sorry you could not participate in the Muscadine Lines book. It seems to be doing well. Never make any money off of it, but it’s starting to look like Kathy migh break even on her investment in it. In a year or so there may be a follow-up, a sequel if you will, so maybe you can get in on that one…

Hope all of you, four-legged ones included, are healthy and stay that way through the winter. And hope your aches and pains subside. Think Jack Daniels…

    Regards,

    Winston
